Charles Nicolas Bazin

This is a rare and beautiful bow by Ch. N. Bazin and is represented in the recent book on the Bazin family by J.F. Raffin.  

 

Round Pernambuco wood stick mounted in silver & tortoiseshell; frog with ring and eyes; three part adjuster; excellent condition with just minor usage wear on the handle; weight = 61g

Although tortoiseshell is an endangered species and protected under the Cites act, bows manufactured before 1947 are not restricted for sale or ownership in the UK. However, if sold (or taken) outside the UK they would require certification.
